Colombo: The current economic crisis in Sri Lanka and the failure of the government is being criticized all around. Sri Lanka’s world-winning captain and former Tourism and Aviation Minister Arjuna Ranatunga has also targeted the Sri Lankan government for its decisions. 58-year-old Ranatunga had recently resigned from the United National Party.
In a scathing attack on the government, the 1996 World Cup winning captain Ranatunga told the media that, ‘If he cannot handle the economic crisis properly, then he should resign.’ Ranatunga said that in the current situation in Sri Lanka, there is a problem everywhere. At the same time, he also said that the government of Sri Lanka is behaving like an arrogant. Questioning the functioning of the Sri Lankan government, the former captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team said, ‘We have taken loans from everywhere.’
Along with this, he also gave his reaction to the ongoing violent demonstrations in Sri Lanka. He said that, ‘The government has so much power that it can spread violence by sending anti-social elements in the demonstration.’ Let us tell you that India has assured all possible help to Sri Lanka. Arjuna Ranatunga also praised India for the assistance being provided by India. He said, ‘India has been very helpful in this time of crisis. Even when I was a minister, India had helped Sri Lanka a lot, but you cannot trust the government here at all.
