The Uttar Pradesh government will no longer give grants to the permanently recognized madrassas of Aaliya level up to the year 2023. This decision was taken on the proposal brought by the Minority Welfare Department in the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday.
Actually, the state government has taken this decision while reversing the decision taken during the tenure of the previous socialist government of the state. During the tenure of the SP government, it was decided to take 146 madrassas recognized till 2023 on the grant list. After that 100 madrasas were also taken on the grant list.
Even before the remaining 46 madrassas were taken on the grant list, there had been an infighting in the government, after that these 46 madrassas could not be taken on the grant. Some of these madrasas took refuge in the court. At present, a total of 560 madrassas in the state are being given grants by the government. Under the grant, the teachers and staff of these madrasas are paid.
