Houston: Houston Malayalee Association (HMA), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting cultural diversity and harmony, successfully organized a multicultural function to celebrate four different festivals viz: Vishu, Easter, Ramadan and Mother’s Day.
The event, which took place on May 14th at First Colony Park was attended by people from different cultural backgrounds who came together to enjoy the festivities and experience the rich cultural traditions of these four important celebrations.
The function featured a variety of entertainment activities and cultural performances that showcased the customs and traditions of Vishu, Easter, Ramadan and Mother’s Day. Attendees were treated to traditional songs, dances, and foods associated with each festival. Jayanth an Panancherry made a speech about Ramadan, Jayapriya Panacherry about Vishu and Rehan Kuzhiyil a 10 year boy did a great speech about why we should have the cultural diversity and celebrations of our nations!
“We are delighted that the event was such a success, and we would like to thank all of the volunteers, performers, and attendees who made it possible,” Said HMA President Smt. Sheela Cheru. “It was amazing to see different communities come together and celebrate their cultures in a spirit of mutual respect and understanding” she added.
The success of the event has encouraged Our Association to continue to promote multiculturalism and inclusivity, and we are already planning future events that will bring people from different cultures together.
HMA Secretary Dr. Najeeb Kuzhiyil welcomed all the families for the special POTLUCK Lunch. He honored all the mothers by giving them gifts! BOT President Pratheesan Panacherry presented the VISHUKANI and presented everyone VISHUKAINEETTAM. Women’s forum members Mini Panacherry, Rani Cheru, Sunitha Kuzhiyil and HMA VP Jiju John Kunnampally, members Varghese Cheru and Wilson Cheru arranged POTLUCK LUNCH special for the mothers which included all specials for Vishu , Easter and Ramadan! Chicken Biriyani, Beef cutlets, Tuna Cutlets, Neychoru, Chicken for Neychoru, salads, mixed fruits including jackfruit, soft drinks, upperi, mezhukkupuratty , moru etc were deliciously made , served and everyone enjoyed!
