Moscow.Russian President Vladimir Putin called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a good friend of Russia and also praised India’s Make in India initiative. Addressing an economic forum organized by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) in Moscow, the President said that our friend in India and our great friend Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Make in India initiative many years ago. It has really had a big impact on the Indian economy. Putin described the sanctions policy of Western countries as an opportunity for Russian companies and said that this policy helps our companies to market their products more efficiently. Industrial and product design should become an important resource for the development of domestic business.
The Make in India initiative was launched by Prime Minister Modi in 2014 with an aim to develop products made in the country, It was intended to create and encourage companies to manufacture and assemble, and to encourage dedicated investment in manufacturing. Putin and Modi last met in September 2022 on the sidelines of a regional security bloc summit in Uzbekistan.
