Pakistan won the three ODI series against Afghanistan. They won the second ODI by one wicket to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Pakistan won the first match by 142 runs at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota, Sri Lanka. On this ground, Afghanistan won the toss on Thursday (24 August) and decided to bat. He scored 300 runs for five wickets in 50 overs. In response, Pakistan scored 302 runs for nine wickets in 49.5 overs.
Pakistan had to score 11 runs in the last over to win. He had two wickets left. Shadab Khan was unbeaten on 48. In such a situation, all the responsibility was on him. Shadab was run out on the first ball of the 50th over. It looked like Afghanistan would win this match, Naseem Shah didn’t let that happen. He dashed Afghanistan’s hopes by scoring an unbeaten 10 off five balls with the help of two fours. Naseem Shah hit two fours off Fazlahaq Farooqui in the last over. He ended the match by hitting a four off the fifth ball.
Gurbaz created history
Earlier, Afghanistan scored 300 runs for five wickets in 50 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored half the runs for Afghanistan. He played an inning of 151 runs in 151 balls. During this, he hit 14 fours and three sixes. Gurbaz became the first Afghan player to score a century in ODIs against Pakistan.
Zadran scored 80 runs
Ibrahim Zadran scored 80 runs off 101 balls. Mohammad Nabi scored 29 off 29 balls and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi scored 15 not out off 11 balls. Rashid Khan was dismissed for two and Shahidullah Kamal scored one run. Abdul Rahman scored four not out. Shaheen Afridi took two wickets for Pakistan. Usama Mir and Naseem Shah got one success each.
