Many posts in Congress are lying vacant for a long time. At the same time, many leaders are handling more than one responsibility. In such a situation, the party president can make necessary changes with the appointment of these posts. Along with the student organization NSUI in the party, the appointment of in-charges in many states has not been done for a long time. The post of full time in-charge of NSUI is vacant for two years.
NSUI President Ruchika Gupta had resigned from her post on December 2020. Thereafter no permanent appointment has been made. Along with this, Kamal Nath is also holding the post of Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly along with the State President in Madhya Pradesh.
West Bengal Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury holds the responsibility of the leader of the party in the Lok Sabha. The appointment of full time state in-charge in Bengal has also not been done for a long time. Chella Kumar was given additional charge of West Bengal in December 2021 after Jitin Prasada quit the party.
In the meeting of the Congress Working Committee held on March 14 to discuss the defeat in five states, the issue of reshuffle in the organization also figured prominently. In the resolution passed unanimously in the meeting, the party president has been authorized to make necessary and comprehensive organizational changes to strengthen the organization.
A senior party leader said that the Congress President may make some changes soon. The process of organization election is going on in the party. In such a situation, a big change will happen only after the election of the new president. Through this change in the organization, the blueprint of the new team of the new party president will be prepared to a great extent.
