(Eastern Bergen County, New Jersey; May 5, 2022) –The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County holds its annual spring gala, Help Us Fill The Community Chest, on June 9, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. at Montammy Golf Club, located at 7 Montammy Drive in Alpine, New Jersey. Producer and director Harry Martin, an Emmy Award-winning TV journalist and an anchor of newscasts at three leading television stations in New York City, joins The Chest as emcee.
With the motto ‘Neighbors Helping Neighbors’, the organization’s mission is to lead initiatives and support nonprofits that make communities stronger and benefit people in eastern Bergen County, New Jersey. The 89th anniversary gala’s net proceeds will be used to fund projects meeting these 2022 priority areas: food insecurity; health and mental health services; educational support programs focusing on social, emotional and developmental learning loss; programming to enhance college preparation; supportive services for special populations such as senior citizens and people with disabilities; and ancillary services to enhance the quality of life for all populations, including preserving the environment, supporting the arts, and promoting social justice.
The annual gathering brings together friends and supporters to fulfill The Chest’s mission started by its founders nearly 90 years ago. They carry on the legacy to fill a chest with individuals and businesses’ generous contributions and to empty its contents by awarding grant funds to support worthy projects led by vetted area nonprofits. The Community Chest undertakes this mission with increased benevolence to help people in need.
