Zee Keralam theme for this Onam is ‘Neythadukkaam Puthiyoru Ona Vismayam’.
Kochi: Zee Keralam, the prominent entertainment channel in Kerala, has ushered in Onam by gifting Onakkodis (new clothes as Onam gifts) to the inmates of the Alappuzha-based Santhi Bhavan Sarvodaya Panghuveckal Charitable Trust Old Age Home. Prominent actors PonnammaBabu and AdinadSasi distributed Onakkodis on behalf of Zee Keralam to the residents at the old age home. Both the actors play lead roles in serials aired on Zee Keralam. The inmates of the old age home were elated to have their favourite actors in their midst and to receive gifts from them. Entertainment programmes by the artists of Zee Keralam were also part of the Onam celebrations.
The theme for this year is Neythedukkam Puthiyoru Ona Vismayam (Let’s Weave a New Magic of Onam’). According to Zee Keralam officials, the first things that come to mind when one thinks of Onam are flowers, Mahabali, the Onam feast and new dresses. All these blend together to bring about a new level of celebration.
However, Onam celebrations are complete only when we extend a helping hand to the needy. So this year, Zee Keralam is celebrating Onam with those who actually need help. Zee Keralam has taken Onam festivities to the aged inmates of the Santhi Bhavan Sarvodaya Panghuveckal Charitable Trust at Punnapra in Alappuzha, so that everyone there too would be part of the celebrations, they added.
Zee Keralam’sOnam celebration was totally different from others as it provided an opportunity for the inmates of the old age home to celebrate the festival along with their favourite actors.
