Shimla: Monsoon rains have started wreaking havoc in Himachal Pradesh. After the red alert of the Meteorological Department in the state, now pictures of devastation are also coming to the fore. 6 people have died in Himachal in 24 hours of rain, while 3 National Highways are closed. Along with this, more than 250 roads have been closed due to land slides. Due to heavy rains, vehicular movement has been stopped on the Kullu-Manali road due to stone pelting at many places and rise in water level in Beas river near Ramshila. Vehicles going from Kullu and Manali towards Atal Tunnel and Rohtang have been stopped. One person died after being hit by a landslide in Himachal’s Chamba district. This accident happened late at night. At the same time, one devotee has died during Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra, while two others are missing. All of them had slipped from the glacier. A house has collapsed in Lanka Baker of Kullu and a woman has died.

Traffic has been blocked on the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway between Mandi and Kullu following massive landslides along the swollen Beas river triggered by overnight rains in Himachal Pradesh. The National Highway was badly damaged in a landslide near Pandoh in Mandi district. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on both sides of the affected area. Police has stopped the movement of vehicles from Mandi towards Kullu and from Kullu towards Mandi. Official sources said alternate road connectivity between Mandi and Kullu via Kataula was also disrupted due to massive landslide near Kamad on Saturday night.
