A major accident took place in Ladakh this evening. Nine soldiers were killed when the vehicle carrying the army personnel fell into a gorge. At the same time, 1 jawan has been seriously injured.
Ladakh: There is news of a major accident near Leh in the Union Territory of Ladakh. A vehicle carrying soldiers of the Indian Army has fallen into a ditch. Seven jawans and two GCOs have died in this. Many jawans were also injured in this accident which took place around 6 pm on Saturday evening. All of them have been taken to the military hospital.
This accident happened near Kyari area. The Indian Army truck was accompanied by an ambulance and USV. A Leh-based defense official said that the incident took place 7 km from Kyari town. The Indian Army truck fell into the ditch when it was coming from Karu garrison towards Kyari.
There were 10 jawans in the truck
A total of 10 jawans were aboard the military truck that met with the accident. This truck fell into the ditch of the river adjacent to the road. Seven jawans and two GCOs were killed in this accident. Rescue work has been done very quickly after the accident and all the injured jawans are currently admitted in the hospital. Everyone is being treated. Many jawans have also suffered serious injuries.
Defense Minister expressed grief
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted that “expressed grief over the death of Indian Army soldiers in an accident near Leh. He said that we will never forget their exemplary service to our nation. My condolences With the bereaved families. Injured personnel have been taken to field hospital. Praying for their speedy recovery.”
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said- ‘The news of the martyrdom of many of our soldiers due to the accident of the army vehicle in Ladakh is very sad. I pay my humble tribute to all the martyrs. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families of the jawans. I hope for the speedy recovery of the injured.
