Indore: On Wednesday, for the first time, the metro coach moved from Gandhi Nagar depot to the viaduct and reached the metro platform. Metro coaches left the metro depot at 2 pm on Wednesday and reached the ramp and viaduct for the first time. During this period, the fitness of the coach and fitness of the track was also tested. Moving at a speed of 8 to 9 kilometers per hour, the metro coach covered a distance of about 1200 meters and reached Gandhi Nagar station in six minutes.
Metro engineers and workers welcomed
As soon as the coach reached the platform, the metro engineers and workers constructing the station welcomed them with applause. More than 100 laborers were happy to see the metro and were happy that the metro was standing at the station built by their hard work on Wednesday. The metro coach was run on a 5.9 km stretch of the trial run from Gandhi Nagar station to Super Corridor station number 3. When the coach reached each platform, its gate marking and distance from the platform were assessed.
On Tuesday, the third rail track of the metro on the trial run route from which electricity was to be supplied, was charged. The metro coach reached Super Corridor Station No. 3, 5.9 kilometers away from Gandhi Nagar station, in 20 to 25 minutes, moving at a speed of 10 to 11 kilometers per hour. During this period, the trial run also stopped at all the five stations.
Electricity given to coach from stretcher in stabling yard
In the stabling yard of the metro depot where the testing of coaches takes place. There is an overhead third rail. The 750 DC volt present in it is given current to the coach through a stretcher connected to the wires and is taken outside the yard to the third rail which conducts electric current to the coach. Only by connecting to the third rail track outside the yard, the coaches reach the viaduct and platform seamlessly.
