New Delhi: As soon as the names of the country’s expressways and national highways are mentioned, a picture of sparkling roads appears before our eyes. Drivers also enjoy traveling on these expressways and national highways.
You will feel even better to hear that soon expressways and national highways will be more convenient than before. National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has started the initiative for this.
An agreement has been signed between NHAI and DMRC. Under this, NHAI will use Metro technology in road and tunnel construction. NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav and DMRC Managing Director Dr. Vikas Kumar have signed the MoU in Delhi. This initiative will strengthen the ‘Design Division’ of NHAI. This division reviews the planning, design, construction and maintenance of bridges, structures, tunnels and Reinforced Earth (RE) walls at NHAI across the country.
Under the agreement, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will provide services to the National Highway Authority of India for review of the design of all bridges/structures in the ongoing projects. The agreement also includes review of the designs of bridges, structures, tunnels, reinforced concrete walls and other special structures selected without any rules. DMRC will also cooperate with NHAI to review stand-alone bridges and special structures in the DPR phase.
