Chandrababu Naidu led Telugu Desam Party will not contest elections in Telangana this time

Chandrababu Naidu who led Telugu Desam Party will not contest elections this time in Hyderabad,  Telangana. It is said that the decision not to contest the assembly elections was taken after the meeting of Telangana Telugu Desam chief Kasani Dnyaneshwar with Chandrababu Naidu inside Rajahmundry Central Jail.

Former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was arrested for allegedly misusing Skill Development Corporation money. He is currently lodged in Rajahmundry Central Jail.

Chandrababu Naidu had reportedly said that it would not be possible for the leadership to campaign in Telangana due to his stay in jail, hence the state party chief should inform the cadre about the situation.

Telugu Desam Party has a strong support base in Telangana. Due to this, it won 15 seats in 2014 and two seats in the 2018 assembly elections. It is a different matter that the elected MLAs later changed their loyalty and went with the ruling party.

Chandrababu Naidu’s supporters in Telangana are angry that Bharat Rashtra Samiti did not make any statement condemning Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest and they were also not allowed to hold a protest in support of Naidu in the Hi-Tech City area.

After this, when some communities said that they would consider giving their votes to Congress instead of BRS, the ruling party leadership became worried and then many leaders condemned the manner of Naidu’s arrest.
