Thiruvananthapuram: The 21st Annual Scientific Conference of the Asia Pacific Association of Medical Toxicology (APAMT 2023) concluded on November 10. Dr. Thomas Mathew, DME of the Kerala Government, graced the event as the chief guest. The conference, which commenced on November 7 at Hotel O’by Tamara, also had the presence of Prof. Dr.Manojan KK, Vice Chairman of SreeGokulam Medical College & Research Foundation, and Dr.Sheeja G Manoj, Managing Director of Thiruvananthapuram GG Hospital, as special guests. Dr.Linu M. Shekhar, Organising Secretary APAMT2023 and Head of the Emergency Department at SreeGokulam Medical College managed the proceedings as the master of the ceremony.
A noteworthy aspect of the conference was the inaugural one-day workshop on Toxicology Stimulation, held on November 6 at the Institutional Skills Lab of SreeGokulam Medical College. This workshop, a first of its kind in Kerala, provided participants with hands-on experience using state-of-the-art facilities.
During the conference, Prof. Dr.Manojan KK emphasized the significance of well-structured emergency departments in the integration of acute toxicology care. Dr.Sheeja G. Manoj highlighted the importance of global networking and knowledge sharing for the improvement of toxicology care in her address.
Distinguished figures like Prof. Dr. Ashish Bhalla, Head of the Department of Emergency Medicine at PGIMER, Chandigarh, and Organizing Chairperson of APAMT 2023, as well as Dr. Hossein Hasaanian, President of APAMT, and Prof. Dr.Vishwanathan, Head of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Government Medical College, Trivandrum, actively participated in the conference.
