Tel Aviv: The war that has been going on between Israel and Hamas for about one and a half months does not seem to be stopping. The Israeli army has now intensified surface attacks. In this direction, Israeli forces destroyed the suspected Hamas command center running under Gaza’s largest hospital, Al-Shifa. America has requested Israel regarding the security of Al-Shifa Hospital. “Based on intelligence and need, IDF forces are conducting a precise and targeted operation against Hamas in a specific area in Shifa Hospital.” The United Nations estimates there are at least 2,300 patients, staff and displaced civilians inside al-Shifa hospital, trapped by days of fierce fighting and aerial bombardment.
Eyewitnesses said that the situation inside the hospital was horrific. Many families are living in the corridors of the hospital. Where the foul smell of rotting corpses was coming. Hospital director Mohammed Abu Salmiya said bodies were scattered across the hospital premises and were forced to be buried in a mass grave. He estimated that 179 bodies, including seven newborns, had been buried so far. These infants died when the power to their incubators was cut off.
On the security request of the US President regarding the hospital, Israel claimed that the hospital premises are being misused for military operations due to which the entire hospital is in danger.
The IDF said in a statement that despite 12-hour warnings, Hamas fighters did not cease military operations. The White House said on Tuesday that US intelligence sources had confirmed Israel’s claim that Hamas had buried an operational center beneath the hospital.
