Champai Soren’s government proved its faith in Jharkhand by resisting the New Delhi BJP’s coup, which also gave strength to the grand alliance in Bihar. Although he went with the BJP and became the Chief Minister again, the trust vote on 12th is a litmus test for Nitish and the BJP. The reaction of the leaders proves that the heavy setback faced in the Jharkhand and Chandigarh mayoral elections did not deter the NDA.
With just days left for the trust vote, ally Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) MLA Jyoti Devi has publicly come out against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and JD(U) ministers. She said that she wants a ministerial post and Nitish is always making some of the JDU leaders as ministers.
Ham leader and former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi also questioned the appointment of Scheduled Tribes department to his son Santosh Suman. He also openly said whether he should be considered incapable of handling other departments. Manji’s party has four MLAs. RJD had offered Manchi the post of chief minister. BJP Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary reiterated that the RJD is horse-trading. Chaudhary had earlier visited Delhi and met Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. Nitish will also reach Delhi soon.
The Congress has brought its MLAs to Hyderabad and is ready for the trust vote. 122 members are required for an absolute majority in the 243-member House. The Grand Alliance comprising the Left has 114 members. NDA has 129 members including independents.
