Union Minister Smriti Irani has challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to contest elections from Amethi Lok Sabha seat. While talking to NDTV, Irani clearly said that if Rahul has confidence in himself then he should show it by contesting elections from Amethi. He said, ‘In 2019 he left Amethi and today Amethi has left him. If he has confidence in himself, then he should show it by fighting from Amethi instead of going to Wayanad. This statement of the BJP leader has come at a time when Rahul’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra has entered Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, Irani is also on a 4-day tour of his parliamentary constituency.
Smriti Irani said, ‘The empty streets of Amethi show what she feels about Rahul Gandhi.’ Sonia Gandhi is not going to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Rae Bareli this time. She has stood in the Rajya Sabha elections. Now there is talk that Priyanka Gandhi can contest Lok Sabha elections from Rae Bareli. Regarding this, a question was asked to Smriti Irani that what are the preparations of BJP. On this she said, ‘Only this Parliamentary Board can tell you who will be the representative from Rae Bareli. I had said a few days ago that there is going to be an earthquake in Rae Bareli. No one had even imagined that the Gandhi family would leave Rae Bareli seat on its own will. This is the first sign of defeat.
Amethi once used to be a stronghold of Congress
It is known that Amethi used to be a stronghold of Congress in Uttar Pradesh. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi was defeated by Smriti Irani by about 55,000 votes. This victory of BJP was quite shocking and it was considered a big defeat of Congress. There are 80 Lok Sabha seats in UP. This state sends the highest number of MPs to Parliament. In the last general elections, Congress was able to win only one seat from UP. Sonia Gandhi had won from Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat. It is known that Rahul Gandhi definitely lost from Amethi, but he had won by a huge margin in Wayanad, Kerala.
BJP workers protested when Rahul’s Yatra reached Amethi

Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers demonstrated with ‘Jai Shri Ram’ flag. Under the leadership of the party’s District President Vishnu Mishra, they raised slogans against Rahul Gandhi and also raised slogans of Jai Shri Ram. However, the police managed to stop the BJP workers about 30 meters away from the square. Meanwhile, Amethi MP Smriti Irani participated in Tikarmafi and Bhadar Jan Samvad program of Bhadar development block. He threatened the accountant to sit on strike on the complaint of a villager.
