Islamabad: Almost a week has passed since the elections in Pakistan, the government has not been formed yet. Neither are they able to reach a consensus among the political parties nor are they able to decide on the name of their leader. Now news is coming that a consensus has been reached in the meetings held between political parties and Pakistan will soon get a government. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have agreed to form a new coalition government. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari announced that PML-N Chairman Shehbaz Sharif is ready to assume the role of Prime Minister again. At the same time, PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari will become the next President of the country.
This announcement was made by party leaders in a joint press conference late on Tuesday night. According to the report, Bhutto-Zardari said, PPP and PML-N have achieved the required numbers and now we are in a position to form the government. The formula to form a new government has emerged after candidates backed by former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) failed to get majority in the elections. Talking to journalists, Shehbaz Sharif said that he expressed his gratitude to the leadership of both the sides for reaching a positive conclusion of the talks. He stressed the unity between the two parties and their ability to form a government. Let us tell you that both the parties had to struggle to reach a consensus on the power-sharing arrangement after the fractured mandate received in the elections held on February 8. PML-N secured 75 seats, while PPP stood third with 54 seats. Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) has agreed to support him with its 17 seats.
