NIA has seized four properties and Rs 2.27 crore in Jammu and Kashmir in narco terrorism case. The names of two banned terrorist organizations Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen are also being mentioned in this case.
New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has carried out a major action in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday in the case of narco terrorism. NIA has seized four properties in the valley and Rs 2.27 crore in this case. It is being told that two banned terrorist organizations, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen are also involved in this case. According to NIA, properties of four accused have been seized in Handwara of Kupwara district.
So far, 12 arrested in the case of narco terrorism.
NIA issued an official statement on Saturday that two-storey house of accused Afaq Ahmed Wani, one-storey house of accused Munir Ahmed Pandey, house of Salim Andrabi and two-storey house of Islam-ul Haq. Seized. So far, 12 accused have been arrested in Handwara in the case of narco terrorism. However, NIA has already filed charge sheet against 15 accused.
Black bag and Rs 500 notes seized in Handwara
The NIA said the case pertains to the use of ‘narcotic drug proceeds’ to finance violent terrorist activities by Lashkar and Hizbul operating in the Handwara-Kupwara region. A case was registered after a black bag and several Indian currency notes of Rs 500 denomination were recovered during checking of vehicles in Langate area of Handwara.
21 kg heroin also recovered
The officer said that during preliminary searches at the houses of various accused, 21 kg heroin was seized. Apart from this, various incriminating materials including a large amount of cash were also seized. A case has been registered against the accused and they are being interrogated.
