Neil Wagner Retires:  New Zealand’s lethal fast bowler Neil Wagner has surprised everyone by suddenly announcing his retirement. The Test series between New Zealand and Australia is starting from 29 February. Earlier, this decision of Wagner has shaken everyone. Neil Wagner was not included in the playing eleven of the Test series team against Australia. After this his announcement has come. He has performed brilliantly for New Zealand on many occasions. 

The first match of the Test series between New Zealand and Australia is to be played in Wellington. Neil Wagner is a part of the team, but he did not get a place in the playing eleven. Will remain with the team even after the decision of retirement. He will be released from the team before the second Test match to be played in Christchurch.

Left-arm fast bowler Neil Wagner played his last Test for New Zealand against South Africa in February 2024. He was also a part of the New Zealand team selected for the Test series against Australia. The left-handed Wagran has given a memorable performance against Team India. He has taken 8 wickets against India.

Neil Wagner’s international career was full of ups and downs. Initially, he had to work hard to establish himself in the team. He was constantly in and out of the team. But by performing brilliantly against Team India, he made his place as a solid bowler. In 2014 the team was on a tour of New Zealand. The first test was played in Auckland. New Zealand gave Wagner a place in the playing eleven. He took 4 wickets in the first innings against India. Four wickets were taken in the second innings also. The situation suddenly changed for him after the test match played against India. After his stellar performance, he became famous and got a permanent place in the New Zealand Test team.

International career

37-year-old Neil Wagner played 64 Tests for New Zealand, in which he took 260 wickets at an average of 27.57. He is at number 5 in the list of bowlers who have taken the most wickets in Test cricket for New Zealand. He did not play any ODI or T20 for New Zealand.
