Jammu and Kashmir: 12-year-old Aqib fought to save his brother from a tiger attack. The incident took place in Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir. A tiger pounced on the boy who was playing cricket in the evening. To save his brother from the tiger, Aqib took the cricket ball from his pocket and hit it at the tiger’s eye. At the bottom the tiger released its grip but the tiger turned towards Aqib.
Aqib’s friend threw a brick at the tiger when he stood there scared, not knowing what to do, and the villagers rushed. The tiger was chased away by the villagers. Even though he saved his younger brother’s life, Aqib is still haunted. Because not long ago a girl in the same village was attacked and killed by a tiger.
The 12-year-old said in a hoarse voice that there were no facilities in the village for his younger brother to receive treatment, so he faced great difficulties in seeking emergency medical care. If you want to get better treatment, you have to go to distant hospitals. He said he could not reach the driver to take his brother to the hospital due to non-availability of even network.
Aqib also demanded that their concerns be resolved. Safety including children should be ensured, network facilities should be provided in the country and tigers should be removed from here. Aqib added that the government should ensure all these.
