Bengaluru: The Election Commission has seized 1,681 LED TVs worth Rs 2 crore which were kept for distribution to influence voters. The TVs were seized from a warehouse in Bengaluru’s BTM Lok Sabha constituency. The Election Commission has instructed the local police to investigate who kept so many TVs and for what purpose.
With the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections, various political parties have started trying to influence the voters in various ways. Many expensive items are given to the voters. Last day, lakhs of rupees without proper documents were also seized.
104 parts of the city have been blocked with the help of election officials. Everywhere is on high alert. 940 packets of Bharat rice of 10 kg each were seized last day.
There is strict vigilance at the border check posts. Special vigilance has been advised in Chamaraja Nagar. This is in the context of the seizure of illegal money worth lakhs of rupees the other day. About three lakh rupees were seized without documents at Maddur check post in Gundipet taluk.
In the wake of the elections, checks have also been tightened at Kerala and Tamil Nadu border check posts. All vehicles are inspected. Meanwhile, the other day Additional Superintendent of Police Udesh and his team seized Rs 97,000 from a driver named Harris. The vehicle was going to Gundalpet from Kerala. 117 lakh rupees were also seized from Jamshir, a pick-up driver. 3.14 lakh rupees was also seized from the car driver named Joshi Kainadi.
All vehicles coming through the Kekanahalla check post in Tamil Nadu are checked. The inspections are being conducted by the police and the revenue department. Vehicle and mobile phone numbers are also recorded.
