Bengaluru: Congress has released the second phase list of 17 candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka. The sons/daughters of Congress high command ministers have been nominated in the second phase candidate list. The list of candidates was finalized in the meeting of the Central Election Committee held at the AICC office under the chairmanship of Mallikarjun Kharge.
Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy’s daughter Soumya Reddy (Bangalore South), Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi’s daughter Priyanka Jarkiholi (Chikodi), Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar’s son Mrinal (Belgaum), Agriculture Marketing Minister Sivanand Patil’s daughter Samyukta (B. Galkota) Ishwar Khandre’s son Sagar Khandre (Bidar) will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The Congress is announcing 17 candidates at a time when the competition for the candidature is going on in Karnataka. In Karnataka, which has 28 Lok Sabha seats, candidates for 4 seats are to be announced.
The Congress announced the names of seven candidates from the state in the first list. In the second list, the Congress did not bring sitting ministers into the Lok Sabha arena as expected. Instead, sons have been fielded in the Lok Sabha.
