Nagpur: Apart from being the headquarters of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Nagpur in Maharashtra has a world famous for its oranges. But now Nagpur is also being considered as the stronghold of Union Minister Gadkari. In the last 10 years, Gadkari has explored every street and locality and there is hardly any area left where he has not worked. However, this time Prakash Ambedkar’s Vanchit Bahuchan Vikas Aghadi has supported Vikas Thackeray, who challenged Gadkari, without asking and MIM has also not fielded a candidate. This strategy is not considered right for Gadkari. Questions are being raised that what are the powers behind Vanchit’s support to Congress candidate Thackeray? What is the reason for MIM not fielding candidates, while BJP’s opponents allege that Ambedkar and MIM are the B team of BJP. After this, there is a strong discussion in Nagpur Lok Sabha constituency whether this Chakravyuh has been created to surround Gadkari?
Ambedkar’s Vanchit did not field a candidate from here and Owaisi’s party MIM also did not field a candidate, while Congress did not seek support from Ambedkar. Those who know the politics of Maharashtra closely say that on whose advice has Vanchit supported the Congress candidate. Doubts shift towards Delhi as to the reason for MMI not fielding candidates. This thing is troubling Gadkari, then the Congress camp is excited.
This time, Congress has made the MLA of the same area, Vikas Thackeray, its candidate in front of Gadkari. Vikas has been the Mayor of Nagpur. He has been the leader of opposition in Nagpur Municipal Corporation for many years. He has a good hold on the city and the number of voters of the Kunbi community from which he comes is close to 6 lakhs. National President Mallikarjun Kharge came to campaign for Vikas, while Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath came to campaign for Gadkari. Ever since Vanchit announced his support to the Congress candidate, the Gadkari camp has been on alert mode. Gadkari’s entire family has taken part in the election campaign. Due to Gadkari being practical, people are coming from every corner of the country for his election campaign.
What is the caste equation?
There are 22.23 lakh voters in Nagpur Lok Sabha constituency, in which Hindi speaking people play an important role. There are about four and a half lakh Hindi speaking voters, out of which around 3 lakh are from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. There are about 3.5 lakh Muslim voters. There are around four lakh voters each of Kunbi, Teli and Dalit. Among these, Congress candidate Thackeray is from Kunbi community. He claims that Kunbi, Dalit, Muslim and Hindi speaking communities are with him. Thackeray is also claiming the support of Teli community. On the other hand, Gadkari claims that he has the support of all the society and he is winning by getting more votes than last time. Will defeat Congress by more margin. Gadkari’s sociable nature definitely makes him different from other leaders. To solve the caste equation, Gadkari contributed to the formation of a commission with constitutional status for the development of the OBC community.
