‘Giving political space to separatists and extremists’; India replies to Canada

New Delhi: India responded to Canada by arresting three Indian citizens in connection with the killing of Khalistan separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. India has criticized the incident as having political interests and that Canada is giving political space to separatists and terrorists. External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal replied to the question that the arrest of Indian nationals was informed but not at a diplomatic level.

Canada has yet to hand over any relevant evidence or information related to Nijjar’s killing. Canada is dealing with prejudice in the incident. Indian diplomatic officials are threatened and prevented from fulfilling their responsibilities. Allows entry and residence in Canada for those involved in Indian-related organized crime. Many requests to extradite such people have been rejected. Jaiswal added that all these matters are being discussed at the diplomatic level.

Canada Police arrested Karan Brar, Kamalpreet Singh and Karanpreet Singh in connection with Nijjar murder. Canada claimed that they were members of the group of hired killers who killed Niger.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar (45) is a Khalistan terrorist declared by India as a fugitive. India had put a price of Rs 10 lakh on Nijjar’s head. On June 18, 2023, Nijjar was killed outside a Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.
