The aid consisting of food items, medicines, tents and other material was handed over at Maulan Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi Airport in Mazar-e-Sharif on Monday. While delivering the material, the Qatari representative said that Doha wants to provide humanitarian aid to the people affected by the floods in Afghanistan. The floods have wreaked havoc in Badakhshan, Ghor, Baghlan and Herat provinces of Afghanistan. About 2000 houses have been damaged due to the floods. There has been massive destruction here.
Fahd Abdullah al-Dosari, head of Qatar’s International Search and Rescue Advisory Group, said this is our first shipment of aid. 22 tonnes of medicines, tents and other essential items have been supplied to the flood affected people. Relief work will continue for flood victims in Afghanistan. After heavy floods in many areas of Afghanistan, the World Food Program announced on Sunday that most of the flood affected areas are such where aid cannot be delivered by vehicles like trucks.
