Ernakulam: It is suspected that the main link in the organ transplant group is a doctor from Hyderabad. A special investigation team has started investigating him. It is believed that the accused Sabit, a native of Thrissur, was made a part of the international organ racket gang by a doctor in Hyderabad. Sabit had testified that he came to sell organs and became an agent in Hyderabad.
Angamaly Magistrate Court remanded accused Sabit to police custody for questioning. As requested by the police, the custody was granted for ten days. The investigation team hopes to be able to gather important information about organ trafficking by interrogating the accused Sabit in detail. The NIA has already completed its preliminary investigation in the case. As it is a case with international relations, it is likely that the central agencies will take up the case.
The police received a lot of information that clarified the extent of the organ racket in the initial chedya of the accused Sabit. At the age of twenty-five, the accused Sabit got involved with the organ racket. At first, the goal was to earn money by giving his own organ. In connection with this, the accused had visited Sri Lanka.
In the last five years, the accused Sabith has earned crores as an Avaya sales agent. The police received the information from him that twenty people were victims of organ transplant. Nineteen of them are from other states and one is a Malayali from Palakkad. The victim’s parents told the police that the victim had no contact with his home for the past one year and had earlier been turned away when he tried to donate his organs.
But the police suspect that more people are victims. Accused Sabith was getting Rs 10 lakh if he handed over a person to the organ racket gang. An investigation is also going on regarding the woman from Thrissur who is related to Sabit. The police investigation is in progress after collecting the information of the victims.
Sabit, a native of Thrissur, was arrested by the Nedumbassery police on Sunday, who is an agent of a gang that sells organs abroad by offering money to financially vulnerable people. He was arrested from Nedumbassery airport after returning from abroad. The arrested accused was produced in Angamaly Magistrate Court on Monday and remanded.
The police are giving an indication that more people will be arrested in this case. The police have received important information related to organ trafficking from the phone taken into custody of the accused, but the investigation team has not released more information at this stage as it affects the investigation. The first thing the accused does is to approach people who are in financial difficulty and offer them money and send them abroad.
It is indicated that the accused gave a statement to the police that he was brought to Iran via Kuwait and the surgery to harvest the organs was done in a hospital there. The investigation team got the information that Sabit is the lower middle agent in India of an international organ trafficking racket.
