Karachi: Pakistan’s highest investigating agency has arrested Pakistan’s leading human rights activist Sarim Burney. Bernie’s arrest has been made on the basis of the complaint by the US government. He is accused of human trafficking.
The anti-human trafficking team of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested Bernie as soon as he landed at Karachi airport from the US. According to media reports, Bernie is accused of trafficking more than 25 children and sending them to America illegally. Have got children adopted there.
The FIA had been monitoring Bernie’s activities for some time before his arrest. Bernie runs Welfare Trust International. It is a non-profit trust.
