After Nadda joining the Modi government, it has become clear that the party will get a new national president. Nadda’s tenure as Speaker was completed in January and he got an extension till the Lok Sabha elections.
There were many discussions going on about who would be the new national president. The names of former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan and former Haryana CM Manohar Lal were also floating. Now both of them have become ministers in the NDA government at the Centre, so now the discussion on new names will start. Among various discussions, there are discussions that the new national president may come from Uttar Pradesh, because this state has given a big blow to BJP in the Lok Sabha elections. It was also said that the position of the organization has weakened in UP. However, the name of a leader from Maharashtra is also doing the rounds who is currently handling important responsibilities in the organization.
BJP had set a target of winning 370 seats in the general elections, but could not even come close to the magic number 272. After this, it is believed that now Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh will also pay more attention to the organization and whoever becomes the new president will do so only with its full consent. Many people who have been ministers at the Center have not got a place in the government this time. It is believed that he can be given the responsibility of the organization. Anurag Thakur, who was the Information and Broadcasting Minister in the previous government, has not been included in the Council of Ministers this time, he can be given a place in the organization. He has already been the President of BJP Yuva Morcha. Similarly, many leaders including Smriti Irani can now be seen working in the organization.
This has given BJP an opportunity to peek inside the party organization. There is speculation on two names for this post, General Secretary Vinod Tawde and Sunil Bansal. Tawde is from Maharashtra and had been a minister in the state government before entering national politics. At present he is the General Secretary in-charge of Bihar and has handled many important responsibilities during the Lok Sabha elections. Tawde has gained prominence in a short period of time by implementing special campaigns and public relations programs run by the party for the beneficiaries.
Sunil Bansal is another leader who came into limelight after playing a key role in UP as the state general secretary (organisation) for the party. After UP, Bansal was given national work as general secretary in-charge of West Bengal, Odisha, Telangana. During the Lok Sabha election campaign, Bansal also handled call centers across the country, collected feedback and motivated party workers at the grassroots level. Bansal has won the trust of the top BJP leadership and has become a name for his careful handling of party affairs.
