New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh TDP leader CM Chandrababu Naidu, who is a part of the Modi government, has talked about conducting a skill census in his state. Chandrababu criticized the agenda of the India Alliance and said that instead of caste census, there is a need for a skill census. If Naidu’s plan works, Andhra Pradesh will become the first state in the country to conduct such a census.
This census will enable us to highlight the capacity and shortcomings of our workforce. This initiative of Naidu will enable full use of human resources. This initiative of Naidu is being welcomed on social media. Most people are talking about implementing it all over India. In fact, today when caste census, religion-based census is being talked about everywhere, this initiative of Naidu can prove to be revolutionary.
According to experts, this initiative of Chandrababu Naidu is so good that it can become an example for the whole country. India has a mixed situation in terms of skill. More than half the population in India is below 25 years of age. However, Indian youth are facing high rates of unemployment and underemployment. Many youth have degrees, but lack the skills required for jobs.
According to a survey conducted in 2022-23, the unemployment rate among graduating youth is very high. Andhra Pradesh is number one among them with 24 percent. At the same time, the unemployment rate among the BIMARU states is Bihar with 16.6 percent, Uttar Pradesh with 11 percent, Madhya Pradesh with 9.3 percent and Rajasthan with 23.1 percent. Through Skill Census, we can accurately find out what kind of skills are lacking in the country’s industry. We can fulfill this by giving training.
Through Skill Census, it can be found out which skills are in high demand globally. With this, any country can make its workforce more competitive by training them. According to Delhi University Professor Rajiv Ranjan Giri, this initiative of Chandrababu Naidu should be welcomed across the country. PM Modi should also implement it in the entire country, so that India has accurate information about its human resources. It will also be known how skilled this human resource is.
