India Wins T20 World Cup 2024: In the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, the Indian team defeated South Africa and won the title after 16 years. This match was played in Barbados and the fans held their breath till the last ball. Batting first, the Indian team scored 176 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Virat Kohli played the highest innings of 76 runs. In response, the South African team could only score 169 runs and India won the match by 7 runs.
India had a bad start again
After winning the toss, Rohit Sharma decided to bat first and then he came out to open the innings with Virat Kohli. Both of them showed great rhythm in the first over and Rohit tried to maintain the same in the second over as well but Keshav Maharaj sent Rohit to the pavilion. Rishabh Pant lost his wicket in the same over. After this, Suryakumar Yadav also did not live up to expectations and India lost 3 wickets on the score of 34. After this, Akshar Patel, who came to the crease, batted brilliantly and along with Virat Kohli, stopped the sequence of wickets falling for Team India.
Virat Kohli and Akshar took India past 100. Akshar Patel was run out at a score of 106 and returned to the pavilion. He scored 47 runs in 31 balls with the help of 1 four and 4 sixes. After Akshar was out, Shivam Dubey came to the crease and Virat Kohli adopted an aggressive approach. Kohli was out after scoring 76 runs in the 19th over. He hit 4 fours and 2 excellent sixes in his innings of 59 balls. Shivam Dubey played an unbeaten innings of 27 runs in 16 balls and took the team to 176 runs.
South Africa did not have a good start while chasing the target of 177 runs and lost two wickets in the first 3 overs. First, Jasprit Bumrah bowled Reeza Henriques and then Arshdeep Singh gave the second blow by dismissing Aiden Markram. After this, Quinton de Kock handled the innings with Tristan Stubbs but Axar Patel broke the partnership and brought India back. However, after this, Heinrich Klaasen almost snatched the match but Hardik Pandya made a brilliant comeback and sent him to the pavilion. South Africa needed 16 runs in the last over and Pandya gave only 8 runs and put the match in India’s bag.
