‘NEET UG exam should be conducted afresh’: Kharge

New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has targeted the central government over the medical entrance exam NEET-UG 2024. Regarding the affidavit of the central government in this matter, Kharge said on Saturday that ‘white lies are being told to lakhs of youth and their future is being ruined.’ In fact, the demand for cancellation of the NEET-UG 2024 exam surrounded by controversies is increasing.

Meanwhile, the Center and the National Examination Agency (NTA) said in an affidavit to the Supreme Court on Friday that ‘canceling it would be extremely adverse and may harm the career of the wider public interest, especially those who pass it.’ Mallikarjun Kharge wrote in a post shared on the social media platform X, ‘The Modi government has told the Hon’ble Supreme Court that no paper has been leaked in NEET-UG! These white lies are being told to lakhs of youth. Their future is being ruined.

The Ministry of Education has said that ‘irregularities / cheating have taken place only at a few places. This is misleading.’ He alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh have promoted the education mafia by taking control of the entire education system. Kharge said, ‘Be it NCERT books or irregularities in the examination, the Modi government is bent on destroying our education system. We reiterate that the NEET-UG examination should be conducted again and should be done online in a transparent manner.

All paper leak scams should be thoroughly investigated under the supervision of the Supreme Court and strict action should be taken against the culprits.’ It is worth mentioning that the NTA conducts the NEET-UG examination for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions. This examination was conducted on May 5 this year, in which about 23 lakh candidates appeared at 4,750 examination centers in 571 cities. There are allegations of leakage of NEET paper and protests took place in many cities due to allegations of irregularities in the examination and opposition parties raised this issue. Many cases were also filed in the courts in this regard. The allegations are being investigated by the CBI.
