New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has not got relief from the Supreme Court. Hearing CM Kejriwal’s bail plea today on Wednesday, 14 August, the SC refused to grant him interim bail. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who appeared in the court on behalf of Delhi CM, requested interim bail citing health reasons. In response to this, the court said that we cannot grant any interim bail. Let us tell you that in the liquor policy case, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has got bail after about 17 months.
Arvind Kejriwal approached the Supreme Court for bail in the case filed against him by the CBI in the Delhi liquor policy case. A bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan issued a notice to the CBI and sought its response. During the hearing, Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that Kejriwal has got interim bail three times in the money laundering case. He got interim bail from the Supreme Court on 10 May and 12 July. The court has said that the next hearing on this case will now be held on 23 August.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that the Delhi High Court has stayed the trial court’s order. Before the interim bail in the ED case, the CBI arrested Kejriwal, so he is still in jail. He only wants interim bail. On this, Justice Suryakant said, ‘We are not granting any kind of interim bail.’ The Supreme Court listed the next hearing of the case for August 23.
