The discussions about former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have come to an end. It was being speculated that he could join the BJP along with 6 JMM MLAs. He also made a post on the social media platform X in which he fiercely targeted the Hemant Soren government and mentioned the development work done in Jharkhand during his tenure. In his X post, the former CM of the state wrote, “Johar friends, after watching the news today, many questions must be arising in your mind. What happened after all, which brought the son of a poor farmer living in a small village of Kolhan to this turning point. From raising the voice of workers against industrial houses at the beginning of my public life to the Jharkhand movement, I have always done politics of public concern. I have been trying to get the rights of the tribals, natives, poor, laborers, students and backward class people of the state.
In Jharkhand’s Saraikela Kharsawan, former Chief Minister Champai Soren said, “We have started our journey alone, we have no ill will towards the organization. New chapters will be added to it, we will move our political steps forward with strength.”
After the arrest of Hemant Soren by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Champai Soren has served as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand from 2 February 2024 to 3 July 2024. However, Hemant Soren again took over the CM’s chair after coming out of jail on bail. At that time too, reports of Champai Soren’s displeasure after his departure from the CM post had surfaced. It was even claimed that after much persuasion, Champai Soren had accepted the offer to join Hemant Soren’s cabinet.
Champai Soren, popularly known as Kolhan Tiger, was in pain when he was removed from the post of CM of Jharkhand. After resigning from the post of CM, Champai Soren had said that if he had got a little more time, he wanted to do a lot more for the development of the state. Talking to the media, Champai Soren had said that all the wishes of a working person are never fulfilled. I tried to do good work as CM. We brought many schemes for people of all castes and communities. I am satisfied with the work I was able to do in a short time.
