ND vs NZ: Team India created history in this matter; Ashwin-Sundar did what had never happened before

IND vs NZ 2nd Test: The second test match is going on between India and New Zealand in Pune. The first day of this match was in the name of Indian spinners. In the Pune Test, all 10 wickets in New Zealand’s first innings were taken by spinners. Washington Sundar, who returned to the team after three years, took the maximum of 7 wickets, while veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took 3 wickets. These two made a big record by scattering the Kiwi team.

This is the first time in an innings of a men’s Test that two right-arm off-spinners have taken all 10 wickets for India. Ashwin took the first three wickets of New Zealand, then Washington took all the next 7 wickets.

In the history of Indian cricket, between 1977 and 2023, it has not happened even once that spinners took all the 10 wickets on the first day of a Test match. Now in the year 2024, such a feat has happened twice. Before Pune, earlier this year in Dharamsala against England, Indian spinners had created history by taking 10 wickets on the very first day.

Team India bundled out New Zealand’s first innings for 259 runs on the first day of the Pune Test, then till stumps, they have scored 16 runs after losing 1 wicket. The first day belonged to the Indian spinners, on the second day Team India will enter the field with the intention of batting well.
