Pregnant woman, family narrowly escape ambulance explosion in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon

A pregnant woman and her family narrowly escaped a tragic incident on Wednesday evening in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district, when the ambulance they were travelling in caught fire, and an oxygen cylinder onboard exploded shortly after.

The incident, which occurred on a flyover along the National Highway in Jalgaon’s Dada Wadi area, was caught on video. The footage, which has since gone viral, shows the ambulance engulfed in flames with sparks flying several feet into the air. The explosion’s intensity was powerful enough to shatter windows of nearby houses, adding to the chaos and fear among onlookers.

According to reports, the ambulance was transporting the woman and her family from the Erandol government hospital to the Jalgaon district hospital. Thankfully, the driver noticed smoke coming from the engine and immediately instructed everyone to exit the vehicle. This timely action allowed the passengers to disembark safely just moments before the ambulance burst into flames and the oxygen cylinder inside detonated.

Residents in the area were shaken by the explosion, with many expressing relief that the family escaped unharmed. Local authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the fire and explosion, but the incident serves as a reminder of the critical need for safety checks, especially in medical transport vehicles.
