Kim Jong-un Orders Rapid Mass Production of North Korean Suicide Drones

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un oversaw the testing of advanced suicide attack drones, emphasizing the need for immediate large-scale production to strengthen the nation’s military capabilities. According to North Korea’s state media reports, these drones are designed for precision strikes against both ground and sea targets.

During the testing event, Kim Jong-un provided direct guidance on multiple drone models developed by the Unmanned Aerial Technology Complex and its associated manufacturers. These drones, with varying ranges, were engineered to carry out high-precision attacks, highlighting North Korea’s advancements in unmanned military technology.

The testing, which took place on Thursday, involved drones following pre-set tactical routes and successfully hitting assigned targets with accuracy. Kim expressed his satisfaction with the drones’ performance, affirming their crucial role in modern military operations. He emphasized that drones have become “an essential requirement in military aspects nowadays,” citing their efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and simplicity in production.

Kim further stressed the global competition to advance drone capabilities, noting that North Korea has the resources and technology to develop a wide variety of drones. He mentioned the potential to integrate new tactical approaches to enhance these capabilities for future military needs.

In his remarks, Kim underlined the importance of establishing a robust, large-scale production system for these drones. He called for the Workers’ Party of Korea to focus on merging unmanned military systems with operational plans, reinforcing North Korea’s strategic focus on drones as a critical military asset.

North Korea previously revealed testing of suicide drones in August, also overseen by Kim. This recent test reflects North Korea’s intent to expand its drone program as an integral part of its defense strategy.
