Amid growing anticipation over the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde has publicly announced his unwavering support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision regarding the Mahayuti alliance’s choice for the coveted post. Speaking at a press conference in Mumbai on Wednesday, Shinde referred to PM Modi as the “head of the family” and expressed his willingness to accept any decision made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership.
During the press briefing, Shinde emphasized his loyalty to the Mahayuti alliance and assured that he does not see himself as an obstacle in government formation. “I have told the Prime Minister that if my presence creates any hindrance in forming the government in Maharashtra, there should be no hesitation. Whatever decision you take is acceptable to me. You are the head of our family,” he stated. He also conveyed a similar message to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, reinforcing his commitment to the alliance.
Shinde reflected on his tenure as Chief Minister, stating that his work was guided by the values of Bal Thackeray and PM Modi. He credited his humble background for helping him understand the struggles faced by the people of Maharashtra. “I always believed in giving back to the public. Coming from a poor family, I relate to their hardships and worked to address them during my tenure,” he remarked.
Shinde reiterated that his priority remains the welfare of the people of Maharashtra, regardless of his position. “What matters is not what I receive, but what the people of Maharashtra gain. I am satisfied with the work I have done over the past 2.5 years,” he affirmed. He added that he isn’t someone who gets disheartened and is committed to fighting for the people. Eknath Shinde is scheduled to travel to Delhi later today to attend a crucial meeting with PM Modi, Amit Shah, and other Mahayuti allies to finalize the decision on the Chief Ministership.
