Washington DC: Donald Trump, who has been constantly taking big decisions after becoming the President, has got a setback from the White House’s Management and Budget Office.
The White House has ordered a temporary ban on federal grants and loans. Actually, the Trump administration wanted to ensure that the government money is used according to his executive orders, which were aimed at ending progressive policies.
President Donald Trump’s government had decided to temporarily stop federal grants and loans from Tuesday. His government will now do a comprehensive conceptual review of government expenditure.
It is feared that this decision of President Trump may have a big impact on health research, education programs and other schemes. Even the grants which have already been approved but have not been spent yet will also be stopped.
The Trump administration said in a statement issued by the White House that the government has revoked the decision to stop federal aid. However, soon after, press secretary Caroline Levitt announced that the freeze on spending will continue and only the memo issued by the budget office has been withdrawn.
By temporarily halting federal aid, Donald Trump has created confusion and fear across the country. Not only this, projects like Meals on Wheels and government aid for low-income housing have been put on hold.
Earlier, a US federal court judge temporarily halted the Trump administration’s plan to stop all federal aid. According to CNN’s report, in an emergency hearing, District Judge Lauren Alikhan said that ‘I think there is a fear of irreparable damage.’ Alikhan has scheduled the next hearing for Monday and postponed the order to stop funding until 5 pm that day.
