New Delhi: Voting for 70 seats of Delhi Assembly will be held in a single phase on Wednesday. This election is the most high profile election of the country. In this election, the main contest is between AAP, BJP and Congress, but the reputation of the stalwarts of all the parties is at stake. In fact, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi as well as Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Ministers of many states have put in their full strength for campaigning in this election. Therefore, along with the candidates, it is also a front test for the stalwarts of all the parties.
5 parties that were part of India Block in the Lok Sabha elections are in the fray against each other. Among them, Aam Aadmi Party and Congress are face to face on all 70 seats. On the other hand, Communist Party of India has fielded its candidates on 6 seats, Communist Party of India-Marxist and Communist Party of India-Marxist Leninist have fielded their candidates on 2 seats each. BJP has fielded candidates on 68 seats. Two seats have been given to the alliance parties. In this, Janata Dal-United has fielded its candidate from Burari and Lok Janshakti Party-Ramvilas has fielded its candidate from Deoli seat. In Maharashtra, BJP’s ally Nationalist Congress Party is contesting on 30 seats. Shiv Sena chief and Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde has supported BJP on all seats. Apart from this, Bahujan Samaj Party is contesting on 70 seats and Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen is contesting on 12 seats. The election results will be declared on February 8.
On the other hand, Delhi Police has come on full alert mode for Delhi Assembly elections. Delhi Police, paramilitary forces and more than 82 thousand soldiers from 10 states have taken charge of the security of Delhi. Delhi Police has prepared a special strategy to ensure a peaceful and fair election. Delhi Police has kept its 19 thousand jawan force with itself. This force will remain in reserve. It has been kept in reserve in various districts of Delhi. Wherever there is a tense situation, the reserve force will reach the spot immediately and handle the situation. The air route will be changed on the day of polling.
According to the Chief Election Officer of Delhi, a total of 1.56 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes in this election. These include 83.76 lakh men, 72.36 lakh women and 1,267 transgender voters. 13,766 polling stations have been set up for voting. The Election Commission has set up 733 polling stations which have been specially designed for Divyang voters. Apart from this, facilities like Braille ballot paper and dummy ballot paper will also be provided so that all voters can cast their votes easily.
Special Police Commissioner Devesh Shrivastava, the nodal officer for Delhi Police for Delhi Assembly elections, said that Delhi Police has received 220 companies of force from the Union Home Ministry. These include 150 companies of para-military force and 70 companies from 10 states including Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan. These forces have been deployed 48 hours before the counting of votes. Apart from this, home guards from other states will handle the lines at the counting center. Special Police Commissioner said that in polling stations where there are more than 9 polling booths, the security will be handled by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and in those where there are five or more polling booths, the security will be handled by Inspector. The air route will also be changed on the day of polling. A senior officer of Delhi Police said that a force of 19 thousand jawans has been kept in reserve for the Delhi Police Commissioner. It will move on the orders of the Police Commissioner. These include nine companies from UP and five companies from Rajasthan.
An officer of Delhi Police said that AI chat box and cyber companions have been made for all security personnel to get any kind of information related to the assembly elections. If any personnel wants to get any kind of information and in any language, he will immediately get the information in that language. QR code has been arranged for the people. People can get all kinds of information by scanning the QR code. Voters can also know what they can take inside the booth or not. The police is keeping an eye on around 39 polling stations through drones. A control room has been made at each place.
