Mumbai: New moves are being made in the cold war going on between Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde. At present, Devendra Fadnavis is occupying the CM’s chair. Many times, decisions that hurt Eknath Shinde are also being taken from the state government to the local bodies. Now the BMC has rejected the tender of Rs 1400 crore, which is called Eknath Shinde’s project, under which dry waste was to be managed. Under this scheme, the tender was issued for four years. Through this scheme, garbage collection from every house and cleaning of roads in slum areas, cleaning of drains and maintenance of toilets were included.
Under this scheme, tenders were issued in February last year. After this, BMC started the cleaning system. Cleaning campaigns were being run in slum settlements every weekend and there was also a plan to hire an agency for regular cleaning in slum settlements. The controversy regarding this scheme started when the Unemployed Organization Federation objected to it. They said that why community organizations are not being included in this at the local level. This matter had reached the High Court. Not only this, MLC Praveen Darekar had raised questions on this in the House during the monsoon session. When this matter escalated, now BMC has cancelled the tender itself. In this way this scheme itself has been cancelled.
The cancellation of the project is a setback for former CM Eknath Shinde. The reason for this is that through the scheme he wanted to increase his strength in the slum area. Now he does not have any major plan to reach the public. Eknath Shinde is planning to separate from BJP and contest the BMC elections on his own. In such a situation, the cancellation of BMC tender is a setback for him. Let us tell you that till now no alliance has agreed to fight together in the BMC elections. All the parties from Mahayuti to Mahavikas Aghadi are planning to contest the elections separately.
