Chennai: Actor-politician Kamal Haasan addressed the party workers on the eighth foundation day of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM). The ceremony began by emphasizing the importance of language pride. Kamal Haasan also hoisted the party flag at the MNM headquarters in Chennai.
He also spoke about the struggle of Tamil children to protect their language. Referring to the historic struggle waged by Tamil Nadu against the imposition of Hindi, he warned that language issues should not be taken lightly. He lost his life to protect his own language. Kamal Haasan said that even children know what language they want.
At the same time, he also responded to the words of critics who called him a “failed politician.” He said that if I had entered politics 20 years ago, there would have been people who would have listened to me, but it was too late. He also clarified that he feels defeated because he entered politics too late.
Addressing his party workers, Kamal Haasan also hinted at the upcoming political moves of MNM. He stated that the party’s voice will be heard in Parliament this year and will be felt in the Assembly next year. He also directed to start preparations for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
