Shivraj Singh Chauhan raised questions on Air India’s service; Expressed displeasure on getting a broken seat

New Delhi: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has expressed his displeasure over the mismanagement of Air India. Shivraj’s displeasure grew so much that he shared his pain on social media on “X”. He  was coming from Bhopal to Delhi by Air India flight. During this time, the seat allotted to him was broken and sunken. He was having trouble sitting on it. He also raised questions on these mismanagement of Air India.

He was coming to Delhi to inaugurate the Pusa Kisan Mela. He also had plans to hold a meeting in Kurukshetra and discuss with the representatives of the farmers’ organisation in Chandigarh. He had booked his ticket in Air India flight number AI436 to come from Bhopal to Delhi. But when he sat on his seat, it was broken and sunken. He was facing difficulty sitting on it. He shared a post on Instagram mentioning this mismanagement of Air India.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan wrote, “Today I had to come from Bhopal to Delhi, inaugurate the Kisan Mela in Pusa, attend a meeting of the Natural Farming Mission in Kurukshetra and discuss with the honorable representatives of the Kisan Sangathan in Chandigarh. I had booked a ticket in Air India flight number AI436, I was allotted seat number 8C. I went and sat on the seat, the seat was broken and sunken. Sitting was uncomfortable. When I asked the flight attendants why they allotted me a bad seat? They told me that the management had been informed earlier that this seat was not good, its ticket should not be sold. There are not just one such seat but many more. My co-passengers urged me a lot to change my seat and sit on a good seat. But why should I trouble another friend for my sake, I decided that I will complete my journey sitting on this seat.”

Shivraj Singh did not stop at this. He further wrote, “I had the impression that after the Tata management took over Air India’s service would have improved, but it turned out to be my illusion. I am not worried about the discomfort in sitting, but after charging the full amount from the passengers, making them sit on bad and uncomfortable seats is unethical. Is this not cheating the passengers? Will the Air India management take steps to ensure that no passenger faces such a problem in the future or will it continue to take advantage of the passengers’ compulsion to reach their destination early?
