Mumbai: Is everything sour in the relationship between Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and CM Devendra Fadnavis or is everything being pretended to be fine between the two? These questions are being raised because CM Fadnavis has put a stop on another decision taken during Shinde’s tenure. When Eknath Shinde was the CM of Maharashtra, Tanaji Sawant was in charge of the Health Department.
According to media reports, at that time there were allegations of irregularities in the transfer of officers and purchase of ambulances. Also, the cleaning work of all government hospitals, primary health centers and sub-centers under the Health Department was given on contract. For this, a contract of Rs 3,190 crore for three years at the rate of Rs 638 crore every year was given to a private company in Pune, but now Fadnavis has cancelled this contract.
The opposition is suspecting a secret conflict going on between CM Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde regarding this decision, but Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader and Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar said that there is no party reason behind this decision. Not only the health department, but every government department should work according to the rules. We are accountable to the public.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) party leader Sanjay Raut has also welcomed this decision. He said that the work done during Eknath Shinde’s tenure was full of corruption. Everyone knows who was the Health Minister during Shinde’s time. BJP had opposed corrupt ministers. One of them was also the Health Minister. The Public Health Department is directly connected to the public, but if corruption is happening in that department then it is not right. If CM Devendra Fadnavis is stopping this corruption then we welcome him.
