30 TMC MLAs did not reach the assembly on the last day of the budget session, now strict action will be taken against them

More than 30 Trinamool Congress MLAs were absent in the last days of the West Bengal budget session. The ruling TMC has prepared a list of MLAs who were absent in violation of the party whip. Disciplinary action will be taken against all of them after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee returns from her London tour this weekend. Party sources gave this information on Wednesday. According to TMC sources, the TMC disciplinary committee will take further action after receiving the list from Speaker Biman Banerjee’s office about the MLAs who requested leave.

During the second phase of the budget session, the TMC had issued a whip directing MLAs to be present in the assembly on March 19 and 20. The party’s disciplinary body is investigating the attendance. It is learnt that more than 30 MLAs were absent during the last days of the budget session. TMC chief whip Nirmal Ghosh had directed his office to prepare the list quickly and sources say the office has completed its work.

TMC sources said the process of preparing the list of absent members has been completed and the next step will be taken after receiving details from the Speaker’s office. Initially, the TMC disciplinary committee was scheduled to meet on March 29, but sources indicated that the meeting may be postponed till the weekend due to the upcoming Eid celebrations. The party wants to complete all the preparatory work before the festival.
