Seoul: North Korea is furious over the joint military exercises of the US and South Korea. North Korea has threatened that if the US flies long-range bombers in South Korea, it will retaliate. North Korea believes that the US and South Korea conduct such military exercises to prepare for an attack on it.
“The recent military move by the US and South Korea is a threat to our country’s security. It is a serious provocation that escalates
military tensions in the region to a dangerous level,” a North Korean Defense Ministry spokesman said in a statement carried by state media. The statement warned that the move would definitely harm US security.
The US and South Korean fighter jets conducted military exercises on Tuesday. During the exercise, the US flew ‘B-1B’ bombers. South Korea’s Defense Ministry had said that the purpose of this exercise was to demonstrate the joint capabilities of the two countries against North Korea’s growing nuclear program.
It is noteworthy that America and South Korea have been regularly conducting joint military exercises. Regarding joint military exercises, both the countries say that it is for security. No matter what has been said by America and South Korea. But, North Korea sees it as practice for attack. Meanwhile, it should also be told here that America and other western countries see North Korea’s efforts to manufacture missiles and weapons as a serious threat to the region. At the same time, North Korea is continuously testing weapons to modernize its nuclear arsenal.
