Construction of KINFRA Standard Design Factory gets off to a start

Industries Minister P Rajeev lays the foundation stone for the project, which will be completed by November 2025
To be constructed at a cost of Rs 80 crore, the project aims at promoting IT / IT-based industries

Thiruvananthapuram: Construction of the Standard Design Factory, which will come up at the KINFRA Film and Video Park, Kazhakuttam, Thiruvananthapuram, was kicked off by P Rajeev, Minister for Industries, Government of Kerala. The Minister laid the foundation stone for the project on May 17, 2023, Wednesday.

The upcoming Standard Design Factory is being constructed under the aegis of KINFRA, which functions under the State Industries Department. Spread across 2 lakh square feet and envisaged to have over six floors with modern facilities, the Standard Design Factory will have as its prime objective the promotion of IT / IT-based industries to the maximum extent possible.

The project, which is expected to be completed by November 2025, is being undertaken on an estimated cost of Rs 80 crore. When the project goes on stream, it will provide employment opportunities to at least 5000 people directly and around 7500 indirectly.

Kadakampally Surendran, MLA, Kazhakuttam, presided over the foundation stone laying function organised at the KINFRA Film and Video Park. Santhosh Koshy Thomas, Managing Director, KINFRA, welcomed the guests. Dr. VP Joy, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Kerala, and Chairman, KINFRA, delivered the keynote address.

George Kutty Augusty, Chairman, KINFRA Film and Video Park; K Sudhir, Additional Director, Industries and Commerce Department; M Binu, Councillor; Corporation of Thiruvananthapuram; Richard Antony, Director (India Operations), EY GDS; V Sreekumar, Centre Head, Tata Elxsi, were among those who extended their greetings on the occasion. Dr. T Unnikrishnan, General Manager – KINFRA (Projects), proposed a vote of thanks.
