Mass death in government hospital in Nanded, Maharashtra; Rahul Gandhi wants action

Rahul Gandhi wants strict action against the culprits in the mass death in a government hospital in Nanded, Maharashtra . He demanded compensation to the families of the deceased. Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP that the lives of the poor have no value. He also said that the BJP government is spending thousands of crores of rupees on publicity.

Jairam Ramesh asked the Prime Minister to break his silence. Congress leader Ashok Chavan, who visited the hospital, said that many beds were damaged and around 70 people were in critical condition. The government has announced a high-level inquiry. Minister Hasan Mushrif explained that most of the dead are those suffering from serious diseases.

24 patients, including 12 newborn babies, died in the last 24 hours at the Government Medical College in Nanded. 12 people were treated for snake bite and other ailments. The dean of the hospital himself admitted that there were not enough drugs and staff. Dean said that the government’s supply of medicines had stopped and efforts to procure them from outside did not work out. A month and a half ago, eighteen patients died in a 24-hour period in Utane’s municipal hospital, which led to a huge protest.
