Dhaka: More than 1,400 people have died due to dengue so far this year in Bangladesh. While about 300,000 people are infected with the mosquito-borne disease.
According to a report, based on the latest data of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the spread of dengue has reached a worrying level this year. A total of 283,593 cases and 1,425 deaths were reported as of Wednesday. According to the latest data reported by DGHS under the Health Ministry, dengue deaths this year include 77 in November, 359 in October, 396 in September, 342 in August and 204 in July. According to DGHS, 12,418 new cases of dengue were recorded from November 1 to 7 after 67,769 people were reported infected with the mosquito-borne disease last month. The South Asian country recorded eight more deaths and 1,895 dengue infections in 24 hours. The country saw the highest rise in dengue cases in September, with 79,598 new infections and 396 deaths.
