Will Team India start the new year with victory?

The Indian team is starting its first match of the year 2024 from tomorrow (January 3). They will face South Africa in Cape Town. The Indian team would like to win this last match of the two-match Test series at any cost. After losing the first match, it needs a win in the Cape Town Test to draw this series. Will the Indian team be able to do this?

This match will be played between India and South Africa at Newlands, Cape Town. Team India’s record here has been very bad. The Indian team has so far played 6 test matches on this ground, out of which it has lost 4 and 2 matches have been drawn. That means it has not been able to win a test match in Cape Town till date.

Six players of India’s Test squad present on South African tour have already played Test matches in Cape Town. The performance of all these players has been colorless here. Four players have flopped miserably. Virat Kohli and Bumrah have performed somewhat average here.

From Rohit to Shardul, everyone flopped

Rohit Sharma has played a test match in Cape Town and he was able to score only 21 runs in both the innings of this match. Virat Kohli has scored 141 runs in four innings of two test matches on this ground. KL Rahul has been able to score only 22 runs in both the innings of a test match here. R Ashwin has been able to take only two wickets in two test matches here. Shardul Thakur has also got only two wickets here. Jasprit Bumrah has been doing well here. He has taken a total of 10 wickets in 4 innings of 2 test matches.

There is a slight hope of victory alive

Looking at the past record of Team India in Cape Town and the statistics of the Indian legends here, there seems to be little chance of starting the new year with a win. However, in the last 4-5 years, Team India has won on many grounds where it had never won. In such a situation, there remains a small hope for the Indian team.
